Vehicles in Arroyo Grande Creek

In order to reach the SVRA in the Oceano Dunes, vehicles such as ATV's, Quads, trucks, campers, RV's, trucks with trailers carrying ATV's and Quads for rent, cars and motorcycles, some 50,000 on a holiday weekend, must cross the Arroyo Grande Creek on their way in and out of the camping area, which is to say, the beach. There has never been another entrance developed for the SVRA, although it has always been illegal for vehicles to drive in the creek. Thirty years of usage has made it seem normal for vehicles to cross the creek on their way in and out of the SVRA, but it is strictly illegal and not allowed for vehicles to use the creek as a playground, driving up and down its bed and breaking down its banks. Recent photos indicate that this practice is common and frequent and generally unrestrained.
